Erewash Carers get some 'me' time.

Unpaid carers in Erewash were treated to some nostalgic fun in April in an event organised by Littlewick Medical Centre, Ilkeston.

On the 24th of April from 9:30am, staff at Littlewick Surgery provided a themed 1940s event which presents Carers with an opportunity to meet other people in a similar position, listen to great music, enjoy a traditional china tea and scones and importantly receive suitable support. Staff will be in traditional dress for the war years and a designated 1940’s tea lady ensured everyone is catered for.

Derbyshire Carers Association’s Carer Transition Team were on hand to meet and advise Carers attending the event.
A Derbyshire Carers Association spokesperson said: “This fun, free event was busy and well received by Carers. Alongside the successful Littlewick monthly Coffee Mornings, this event enabled Carers to take a break from their daily caring routine and have some ‘me’ time.

Derbyshire Carers Association now holds Cake and Coffee events in surgeries, hospitals and local garden centres, and is working with local surgeries to develop “Carer Champions” among staff.

Carers please contact Derbyshire Carers Association for more information about this event and our event line-up for 2014 on 01246 222373.
