Derby Cathedral Service for Carers

On Monday 9th June we held our 7th Cathedral Service at Derby Cathedral. This was a service led by the Precentor, Canon Rev Chris Moorsom. The ‘Breakaway Singers’ gave their valuable time to sing 2 songs and His Honor the Presiding Judge of Derby, John Burgess and the High Sheriff of Derbyshire, David Coleman came along to support our event. Our CEO Narinder Sharma, Chairperson Vicky Davison and Founder Gerry Fryer and Mrs Val Fryer also came to enjoy the service. Readings were done by Carer Reg Jackson and Andrew Spriggs, Emergency Planning Officer. Two members of the Carers Reading Group read poems from their new book, ‘From Small Seeds’. Over 100 Carer’s attended along with family and friends. During the service everyone was invited to light a candle and wander around the beautiful Cathedral. Afterwards refreshments were served and everyone chatted and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of this historic building. We were very pleased to see Carers who had travelled from the Amber Valley and Erewash areas and are hoping to be able to offer transport next year so that Carers farther out in the County are able to attend.
