Community alarms and telecare consultation

A consultation on changing how older and vulnerable people are supported to live at home is being launched by Derbyshire County Council. Residents will be asked for their views on plans to change who is eligible to receive community alarms and telecare services. Around 5,000 older and vulnerable people currently use the technology funded by Derbyshire County Council which provides 24-hour monitoring.

Members of the county council’s Cabinet approved the launch of a 10-week consultation which opened on Monday 19 November. Letters will be sent to everyone who currently receives community alarms or telecare services with a questionnaire which they will be invited to fill it in. Residents will also be able to complete it online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/communityalarms

Events will also be held around the county for residents, families and carers to ask questions and give feedback.
These will be held between 10.30am and noon on:
• Monday 26 November – Buxton Methodist Church, Chapel Street
• Tuesday 4 December – St Thomas Centre, Chatsworth Road, Chesterfield
• Friday 7 December – Room 10, Strutt Centre, Derby Road, Belper
• Monday 10 December – Lady Whitworth Room, Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale
• Tuesday 11 December – Ilkeston Library, Market Place
• Wednesday 12 December – Oaklands Village, Hall Farm Road, Swadlincote
• Friday 14 December – Clay Cross Social Centre, Market Street, Clay Cross
• Monday 17 December – Assembly Hall Community Centre, Hilltop, Bolsover
