Ice Bucket Challenge – old hat?

Innovative, daring, courageous and bold – just a few words that spring to mind (there are others!) – as Georgina Greenhough, from the City office of Derbyshire Carers Association – takes the Ice Bucket Challenge to a higher level!

Ever inventive – ‘Georgie’ – as her colleagues call her, braved the challenges of the finger-nipping ‘Tin-Opener’ and with trembling fingers, endured the deadly dangers of the sharp edged gaping ‘Tin Can’ – to fill a bowl with cold, glutinous (and strangely attractive) – baked beans!

A few deep breaths later and without the aid of a safety net or any support other than her dog ‘Harry’, she poured the whole lot over her long black tresses!

With gasps and gurgles and keeping her fingers firmly on the ‘pulse’ – the ‘bean avalanche’ hit her! Happily – Georgie is still standing although Harry the dog, wisely did a runner – but soon returned to investigate the ‘bean feast’ now on the floor – a possible heaven for a white curly-haired Bichon Frise to munch/brunch and roll in – deep joy!
Well done Georgie – DCA staff think you are a star… slightly mad… but still a star!

Georgie through her endeavour is raising cash to support Carers in the City – can you help her – to help Carers?

Get involved in the fundraising challenge that’s sweeping across social media. Challenge a friend and raise money to help support the 119 unpaid Carers across Derbyshire.

How does it work?

Just challenge someone via Facebook or Twitter to have cold, sticky baked-beans poured over their head in exchange for a text donation to Derbyshire Carers. Film it, share it, and then sit back and watch the nomination process take over.

All you need: A bucket/bowl, baked beans and smartphone. A towel and a change of clothes is highly recommended! (A white dog is optional).

Step 1 Fill the bucket/bowl with baked-beans. Pour it over your head and have it filmed on a smartphone, then post the video to Facebook / Twitter.

Text to Donate £2 (or any amount) to Derbyshire Carers by sending DERB25 £2. You will receive a text response and further information how to maximise your donation through Gift Aid.

Then take joy from nominating your friends / enemies to do it next!

As with all challenges, it can be risky – so it’s important you look after yourself and make sure you don’t put yourself in any danger by undertaking this challenge.

If you are concerned about your health, seek medical advice and do not undertake the challenge. For those taking part don’t forget to wrap up warm afterwards and hit the shampoo bottle!
DCA will not be liable for any injury or loss that might occur as a result of participation!
