Having a healthy diet plays an important role in preventing illnesses such as high blood pressure, strokes, diabetes, some cancers and heart disease. There are also other physical and emotional benefits to eating well – it can help you to sleep better, have more energy, help you to maintain a healthy weight – and not to mention that it can be really tasty and look colourful on your plate!
This session will demonstrate what a healthy diet looks like and we will explore the ‘Eatwell Plate’ and discuss all the different food groups.
Carers will be able to make their own healthy food and take home fruit smoothies and pitta pizzas.
We will also be experimenting with vegetable planting to encourage growing fruit and vegetables at home and free recipes and healthy eating advice will be further explained.
